1917, where it all began

The story of Vittorio Citro Boutique has its roots in the early 1900s, in a small village of the Agro nocerino-sarnese. It is the 1917 when the family’s great-grandfather opened the first shop: a few square meters, a simple sign, the ambition of a craft made with hands and a promise kept.

From that shop was born a legacy that would span the entire century, preserved and passed down from father to son, without interruption.

The shoemaker and the shop in Castel San Giorgio

In the post-war years, the family moved the business to Castel San Giorgio. It was here that Vittorio Citro and Costabile Maria Giuseppa — the grandparents of the current owner — fully shaped the family vocation.

Vittorio was a shoemaker: his shoes were made one by one, hand-stitched in leather personally selected, following a craft tradition with centuries-old roots in Campania. Maria Giuseppa welcomed customers in the shop under the house, kept the ledgers, knew every foot and every story.

In that shop a philosophy took shape that remains unchanged: a shoe, a garment, an accessory are never anonymous objects. They have a creator, an origin, a destination.

Expansion and the great fashion names

The following years saw the children — Antonio, Pietro, Giulio and Giuseppe Citro — take up the mantle and open the family’s historic stores in Castel San Giorgio and Baronissi.

This generation brought the first major international fashion names to Campania, building over time direct relationships with the maisons. Relationships that, in some cases, have lasted for decades and today represent the core of the selection available online.

In 2017, exactly one hundred years after the opening of the first shop, the sixth generation opened Vittorio Citro Boutique at Via Sasso 1, Roccapiemonte (SA). The boutique bears the grandfather’s name, as a sign of continuity.
